How Trump Saved Political Youth Activism with Entertainment Politics

To his credit, I can’t think of any president prior to Trump that has gotten so many young people this politically involved and active. Thank you Donald Trump! Well, that may be a bit misleading. Let me explain.

Yes, of course Obama to Millenials, is and always will be the coolest President in our lifetime. But let’s be honest, behind his funny character and comedy moments, he was still a professional adult to us. Trump though, he’s a pure entertainer.

In the worst way possible for democracy, yet the best way possible in getting young people to wake the hell up and get involved, NOW.

It you asked Millennials prior to the 2016 election about voting. Most of us would tell you our vote doesn’t count, it’s a waste of time. We may have watched presidential debates, but we damn sure never paid attention to confirmation hearings for supreme court nominees, or senate hearings for attorney generals and cabinet members of the president administration.

Don’t even get me started on the lack of knowledge we had on the importance of voting for local officials and board members in your state that in turn have influence in Congress and The Senate. With the ability to put pressure on the President and his cabinet members and also are the ones that vote to pass laws and legislations.

We truly needed Trump in that sense. I actually have conversations with my 13 year old niece about politics! That’s so crazy to me when I think about me and my friends at 13 in terms to politics. We didn’t know sh!t, nor did we want to.

The climate has changed, and i'm not talking about actual climate change. Im talking about political climate. President nominees have an entirely new focus on not just appealing to adults. Now they have to focus and put maximum effort to appealing to the youth. I don’t care how you feel about Trump, that is all thanks to him.

Having to appeal to the youth as well means having to care about what we think is important. Making all future presidents take a new look at things like climate change, education system, racial tensions, pay inequality, immigration, etc. Some pretty damn important things that they used to leave in the background or only give us feel good moments without any actual policy changes.

They also have to be careful on who they employee in government positions because we are watching them now. I honestly thank Trump for waking up youth of America. Because they’re the ones that will inherit the country and pave the way for a new American standard way of life.
